ロバート・マコンネルのヘリテージシリーズがいよいよ入荷されました！けれどもどれがどれに当たるのかが分かりづらいですね(笑)という訳で勝手に名前の由来を考える余りにも身勝手な企画、第６弾です。今回紹介するハイゲートは去年、Eclipseという名前でした。尚、筆者の独断と偏見を多く含んでおりますのであくまで参考程度にお読み下さると幸いです(笑)

At last, Robert McConnel's Heritage series are available at our shop! But it's difficult to find which is original dunhill bland each. So let's figure out origin of each name part 6! This time is about Highgate, "Eclipse" was last year's name. This blog is based on writer's idea and prejudice;-) Just reference purpose only;-) Here we go!

Highgate =De luxe Navy Rolls 

バージニアとペリクのブレンド。きれいな円形のコインカット。外側はバージニア、円の中心にはペリクが含まれている。強めの味わいなので食後の喫煙をお勧めする。

Blend of virginia and perique. Beautiful coin cut. Round is virginia and centre is perique. Lil bit strong so recommend to smoke after dinner.

名前の由来:"De luxe Navy Rolls"は、バージニアとペリクのブレンドで、珍しいコインカット。ロバート・マコンネルでは昨年"Eclipse"という商品名でデビューした。これは日本語に直すと、「日食」もしくは「月食」という意味になる。これらは不思議な現象で、地球の影が月をかくしてしまうのでまるで月が消えたようになってしまう。また、太陽が月の影に隠されて、辺りが暗くなってしまう。昔は、不可解な現象が起きると信じられていた。例えば、北欧では巨大な狼が常に太陽と月を追いかけており、それらがこの狼に食べられてしまうことによって起きると考えられていた。現代の私達にとって身近で不可解な現象といえば、心霊である。人が集まる場所には幽霊が集まると言われているが、「それらしい場所」の方が盛り上がる(笑)Highgateにはロンドンを代表する墓地、ハイゲート墓地がある。経済学者であるカール・マルクスが眠っている墓地としても有名であるが、アダム・ワースが眠っている。「犯罪界のナポレオン」と呼ばれ、シャーロック・ホームズの宿敵であった、「モリアーティ教授」のモデルとされている。メリルボーンと吸い比べても面白いかもしれない。

Origin of its name: De Luxe Navy Rolls is a blend of virginia and perique. It's coin cut, some people call roll cut or span cut though, which is my favourite style. Last year, this blend had released as "Eclipse". As you know, eclipse means disappearance of the sun or moon. Long time ago, eclipse was mysterious event for people in north of europe. They believed there was huge wolf, which always run to catch the sun and moon. They thought “eclipse” is result of which the wolf ate the sun or moon. For us, nowadays, one of the mysterious event is “ghost”. Someone say they exist everywhere but we prefer to “exact place”.　Highgate is famous for Highgate Cemetery, where Dr. Kirl Marx rests in peace. Also, Adam Worth rests there who was called “ The Napoleon of the criminal world” and model of old enemy of Sherlock Holmes, “James Moriarty”.
