嗜好品というものは面白いもので、時期が経るに従いより味わい深いものになる。それが故、製造された時期が昔のものであればあるほど価値が生まれる。

Pipe tobacco is interesting because "time" makes its taste deeper, not just sweet. That's why an aged one has added value.

ラットレーオールドゴーリーはもともとバージニアのみのブレンドであったが、現在では、バージニア、ペリク、ケンタッキーのブレンドでフレイクがよく解された状態、所謂レディラブドである。

Old Gowrie was virginia only originally however it's a blend of virginia, perique and kentucky, ready rubbed.

缶を開けるとまず感じるのは、熟成が進んだバージニアの香り。通常のものと比べるとペリクのアロマが若干強くなっているように思える。豊かな土壌を連想させるケンタッキーの香りはほんの僅かに感じる程度。

Tin note so flavourful. At first, well matured virginia aroma on the top. Salty perique flavour is stronger than normal one I think. Earthy kentucky is so weak.

短めな時間で喫煙したかったので、エアーポケットメソッドで詰める。こうすると普段の⅓程度の時間で愉しめるから便利だ。着火すると濃厚な甘さを感じる。フルーティーと言うよりは紅茶の様な感じだろうか。ペリクのお陰でよりバージニアの甘さが際立っている。ほんのわずかであるが、後味にケンタッキーのビターさがある。通常のものよりも「内容が濃い」という印象だ。

Let's put tobacco into a bowl based on the air-pocket method… so I can smoke for a short time, about ⅓ of normal. When I light up a bowl, the sweetness of virginia is strong. It is like… rather sweetness of tea than sweetness of some fruits. Perique is a seasoning for supporting virginia taste. In the second half of a puff, earthy kentucky is in the background and it tastes lil bit bitter. Compared with normal, this tobacco is more full taste than them.
