Common point between magic sticks in Harry Potter and pipes

パイプに関する不思議について思ったことをエッセイ風に書く、誠にしょうもない企画。記念すべき第一弾は「ハリーポッターに出てくる魔法の杖とパイプの共通点」について。筆者の独特な考えと偏見に満ち溢れているので、あくまで参考程度にお読み頂ければと思う。

This article is part 1 of "mysterious things about pipe". I would like to write about the "common point between magic sticks in Harry Potter and pipes." This article is based on writer's thinking and prejudice, just reference purpose only.

パイプというものは誠に不思議なもので、時に生きているのではないかと疑ってしまうことがある。

Pipes are so mysterious. Sometimes I think that they have soul. 

あくまで個人的考えであるが、パイプとハリーポッターに出てくる魔法の杖には共通点があると思う。それはどちらも人を選ぶという点だ。一見すると僕ら愛煙家がパイプを購入するとき、僕らがパイプを選んで購入しているように見える。しかしそれは全く違う。パイプが僕らを選んでいるのだ。

In my opinion, I think there is a common point between magic sticks in Harry Potter and pipes. Both choose people. Most people think that they choose pipes, however it's wrong. PIPES CHOOSE YOU.

そう考えないと説明つかない出来事によく遭遇する。人気作家のパイプでかつ流行りのシェイプのパイプが、何故か長い間当店にディスプレイされていることがある。一方で正直な話、売るには相当な時間をかけるべきだというパイプがすぐに売れることがある。そう考えると、パイプ自身が意思を持っていると思わざるを得ない。

I often encounter situations which I can't explain without my opinion. Sometimes pipes made by famous makers and have popular shapes are in our stock for a long time, against my expectation. On the other hand, even though I had difficulties selling them, they soon sold out. So I think they live.

もしパイプを購入するとき、迷ってなかなか決断出来ないときは、パイプに耳を傾けてみよう。答えはすぐに見つかるはずだ。
