Review of new pipe tobacco almost 6 months aged.

疑問に思うことがある。良いオリエント葉に巡り会うと感じるくすぐったさは一体何だろう。特に煙を吹き戻す時、いくらか煙が鼻腔を抜ける瞬間にそう感じさせる。その感覚がオリエント葉が持つ芳醇さ、もしくはフローラルさと合い極まって何とも言えないくらい心地よい。

Sometimes I wonder what… What makes me feel tickled when I encounter good oriental leaves. Especially when I blow, when few smokes through my nose. It fits the floral aroma of oriental leaves. It makes me calm.

このたばこは、そんなオリエント葉が主人公のオリエンタルブレンドである。ロバート・マコンネルは、1848年ロンドンで創業。このブレンドはどうやらその頃からあるブレンドのようである。長い間人々に愛されてきた事に思わず納得してしまう。

This tobacco is oriental blend which contains latakia. Robert McConnell was born in 1848. This blend has history. Lots of people loved this blend so much I guess.

缶を開けると感じるのは、オリエントの芳醇なアロマ。ラタキアのスモーキーなフレグランスはそれを支えるベストパートナー。後半にブラックキャベンディッシュのフルーティーさと、バージニアの熟成した香りにソルティなペリクをほんの僅かに感じる。葉の湿度を確かめようとたばこ葉に触れる度に弾けるオリエントの香りは、思わずワクワクさせてくれる。ちょうど良い湿り具合でリボンカットなので詰めやすい。

The main character of tin note is the special aroma of oriental leaves. Smoky latakia is the best partner of them. From the 2nd half, fruity black cavendish and the natural sweetness of virginia appear. Salty perique is just a hint. The tin note makes me feel goooood.

着火した瞬間からクライマックス。オリエントの甘さとフローラルなアロマがビッグバンを引き起こす。それを後押しするラタキアのスモーキーさ。そしてブラックキャベンディッシュとバージニアの甘さ。アンダートーンに感じる塩気があるスパイシーなペリク。このバランスの良さは一体何故だろうと疑問に思ってしまう程である。それぞれのたばこ葉の役割がはっきりしている様に感じる。後半になるに従ってバージニアの甘さが強くなるが、それでもオリエントの味わいは主人公のままだ。 だが、終盤になると、ガラリと変わる。バージニアの甘さが際立つ。1ボールを通してストーリー性のある味わいで、序盤と終盤のギャップが面白い。決して飽きさせることのない喫味。個人的には、氷が溶ける度に変化するダークラムのロックを片手に味わいたい。瓶のそこからヤシの木が生えてるアイツがいいなぁ。

Climax starts from the first light. It begins a big ban of floral orient in a puff. Smoky flavour of latakia is a 2nd factor. After that remains fruity black cavendish and the natural sweetness of virginia. In the background, there is spicy and salty perique. This tobacco has a wonderful balance. Every leaf has their role. The sweetness of virginia gets stronger from the 2nd half of the bowl however the main character is oriental leaves. "Surprise" occurs at the end of the bowl, sweet virginia remains, and others keep quiet. I love this blend because of the gap between the 1st half and at the end. In my opinion, I would like to smoke this blend with a dark rum on the rocks. I prefer the rum which has a palm tree on the bottom of the bottle.
